Team FiTi50 was formed this year with a goal to bring together a minimum of 50 riders to raise research funding for Harry Perkins and motivate one of our riders, Kathy Bunce, to get through her gruelling hospitalised chemotherapy treatment for Myeloid Sarcoma. Unfortunately Kathy lost her battle with cancer in early September and now the team is focussed on doing the ride in memory of Kathy and all the joy and love she brought to her family, friends and colleagues.
Kathy was diagnosed in early July with Myeloid Sarcoma, which is a rare disease that is most associated with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Kathy underwent two rounds of intense chemo and radiotherapy, but neither were successful in stopping the cancer.
When Kathy’s mum passed away in June 2013 from Breast Cancer, the ride gave her strength to find the good in difficult circumstances. Team FiTi50 is planning to do the same for Kathy. We believe that well funded research is able to find cure for even the most aggressive cancer and we know that the Harry Perkins Institute has made many breakthroughs over the years. That is why we do this ride and appeal to everyone to support this cause.
So many of us are either personally effected by cancer or we know someone who is. Join us to be part of the cure and healing. Ride with us. Donate funds. Donate blood. Join the support crew.
LET’S RIDE TO CONQUER CANCER!
