Team MACA 2017
Once again Team MACA 2017 is on a mission, raising much needed funds to support of the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research. It’s a 200k cycle journey through Western Australia's scenic countryside over two days, taking us to Mandurah and back to Perth. It's sore for some and a little embarrassing for others squeezing into the Lycra but that's quickly forgotten as we tackle cancer head on.
You can't ignore cancer, its there and will affect 1 in 2 men & 1 in 3 women during our lives and its indiscriminate. It impacts us all, me, maybe you, our families, friends and workmates. Sadly, maybe all of the above. But by riding in this event we are doing something about it. It’s an awesome triumph in a physical sense and emotionally as well and we are making a difference. Thanks to all those who have ridden, donated and supported this event over the past 5 years the chances of survival and quality of life for sufferers are better than they have every been with new cures and treatments coming fast and furious.
If there was any doubt about our motivation, that was blown away earlier this year as we lost a colleague and dear friend Daniel Frost to really aggresive cancer. Frosty rode with us last October, we burried him in March, leaving behind Vicki and two year old daughter Ella.
So hey, join us! This can be your opportunity to do something challenging and rewarding in so many ways. And you won’t do it alone. Team MACA 2017 will be doing training rides, helping each other to fund raise and generating awareness for critical cancer research at the "Perkins", Western Australia's premiere medical research institute.
You can donate, support or join us and ride. Thank you in advance for your support.
