Everything you need is on site! Catered meals, entertainment, hot showers, and massages. There is also a medical team on site to help with any bumps and bruises you may have picked up along your journey.
Note: We'll transport your luggage to camp, leaving you free to focus on your ride.
Visiting Hours: Saturday 11:00am - 9:00pm
Visitors are able to join you at Camp to celebrate your Saturday ride, and we will have some snacks and beverages available for purchase. They are also welcome to bring a picnic lunch/dinner. Visitor parking onsite is limited. All visitors must leave camp by 9:00pm.
Parking Information: Public parking is available beside the boat house, left of the bridge and there is also street parking in the surrounding area.
Your gear will be waiting for you at Camp. After collecting it, signage will lead you to your tent. In the morning, pack up your gear and leave your tent right where it is. A team of amazing volunteers will take the tents down. Bring your gear bag to the truck with the corresponding letter as your tent assignment.
It is going to be a beautiful, COOL evening at camp so please pack appropriately and don't forget to bring your rain gear in case of bad weather. The Ride will take place regardless of the weather.
Things to do at Camp
While at camp please take advantage of all local activities: King Carnival -The Carnival is one of the oldest, historical amusement sites in the state of Western Australia. Kayaks 4 You offer canoe and kayak rentals. In front of Kayaks 4 You is a local swimming area - bring your swimming gear and go for a dip! All these activities are within walking distance from camp.
Join us for camp entertainment in the dining tent. Don’t forget to bring your ID. At 6:00 pm, our Camp Show will start and we’ll report on weather, the route, media coverage, and make special announcements regarding the event. We’ll also feature some of the special people from the Perkins who will talk about the research and programs made possible by your donation dollars.

For your safety, and the safety of others, you must wear a piece of high visibility clothing, have a red flashing reflective light on the back of your bike and come prepared with a small bike tool and repair kit. For more Safety Tips, visit click here.
Rider Identity – Your wristband is your passport to The Ride. It has your name, your participant number and our emergency hotline number. You must wear it for the entire duration of the event. Likewise, your bike will be assigned a corresponding number and saddle plate that must be visible at all times along the route.
Tent Assignment – If you have completed the tent assignment process online, and you will be staying at Camp, you will be emailed your tent assignment on Thursday, 19 October.
Bring your Photo ID – You’ll need it if you’re checking in on Saturday morning or especially if you’ll be drinking alcohol at Camp on Saturday.
Meals – We will provide regular, vegetarian and gluten free meal options. If you are bringing special meals, please ensure they are clearly labelled and in a cooler bag.
Weather – Be prepared for all kinds of weather - hot, humid, cold, and wet! Pack your belongings inside large plastic bags (garbage bags work great) before you put them in your suitcase, to keep them dry in case of rain.
Survivors – If you are a cancer survivor and want to be recognised as such, please pick up your yellow flag on Friday at Check-In or Saturday morning.
*Our motto is Stay Alert, Stay Alive* After Opening Ceremonies, thousands of Riders will embark on this epic 2-day ride. Please get out on the route safely:
- Always ride predictably and in control
- Ride in a straight line, and consciously try to avoid excessive weaving back and forth
- Cooperate with Ride Officials at all times
- Be patient
Sweep Assistance: If you are injured or unable to ride, use a “thumbs down” signal to stop a passing sweep vehicle. These vehicles are reserved for injured Riders and those unable to complete the day’s ride; they are not to be utilised as a taxi service. They will not go directly to Camp during the day. Sweep vehicles will take you to the next Pit Stop, where buses will take you to Camp. Only injured Riders will receive prompt medical attention and transport. If you are picked up early in the day, it may be hours before you are delivered to Camp. As it nears route closure time, sweep vehicles will pick up Riders who are still on the road.
Medical Emergencies: With any emergency, dial 000, if possible. Then, immediately report any medical emergencies to Ride Staff or Crew at Pit Stops, on sweep vehicles, or at Camp, whichever is most accessible. If you’re on the route, after you call 000, contact the official Ride Hotline number (1300 864 218 ) printed on your Rider wristband to alert the Ride dispatch. Sweep vehicles rove the route on the lookout for accidents. Again, use a “thumbs down” signal if you need help. Staff are equipped with a 2-way radio and a mobile phone. They will have comprehensive information on local hospitals, emergency facilities, police, fire, and other important emergency information. Doctors, emergency medical personnel and an ambulance will be available.
Bike mechanics: During The Ride, while bike mechanics generously donate their time and labour, you are still responsible to pay for all parts used to repair your bike so be sure to have some cash with you on the event.
- Wear a piece of high visibility clothing in the case of weather conditions (ie: fog)
- Must have a red flashing reflective light on the back of your bike
- Come prepared with a small bike tool and repair kit in case you run into technical issues along your ride
Cyclists must follow all traffic laws an automobile driver would observe which include but are not limited to stopping at red lights, stop signs & round about’s as well as and yielding to pedestrians. In some cases, a police officer patrolling an intersection will give Riders the right away — in this case, it is OK to proceed with caution. Even at T intersections, you must stop at a Red traffic light.
Helmets – You must wear an AUS/NZS approved helmet, and it must be securely fastened at all times you are on your bike during The Ride.
Headphones/mobile phones/portable radios – Ride participants are never permitted to wear headphones or use mobile phones or radios while riding. Using them while riding is extremely dangerous. If you need to make a call while out while on the road, carefully pull well off the route to do so.
Be Predictable – Smooth, consistent riding is the key to ensuring everyone riding the route feels comfortable and that cyclists are not a hazard to themselves or anyone else.
Know your Limitations and Use the Course Support Provided – The Ride routes can be difficult with unpredictable weather. There will be Pit Stops with food and hydration, along with mechanical and medical support roughly every 20 - 25kms’s. There will also be numerous SAG (Support and Gear) vehicles along the course that will assist with each Rider’s journey.
Call Out Any Change – Cyclists are encouraged to call out “Slowing,” “On Your Left,” “On Your Right,” “Car Up,” “Car Back,” etc. Also, call out approaching hazards for those behind you such as “pot hole,” “tree limb,” etc.
Do NOT Overlap Wheels – Be cognizant of those around you and pay attention to the position of your front wheel vs. their back wheel. This causes the majority of accidents.
Ride Single File or Two Abreast – The MACA Ride to Conquer Cancer® is by definition a ‘rules of the road’ ride meaning the roads are open to traffic. Please do not endanger yourself and others by riding more than two abreast or in some cases single file and inconveniencing the local citizens who allow us to come through their community.
Signal – Signal with your hands and/or voice so that everyone knows your intentions.
Stay to the Left – Ride as far to the left as is practical, unless making a right hand turn or avoiding hazards in the road. If you must stop, do your best to move off the road when you stop.
Leave No Man/Woman – If you are riding in a group and get separated at an intersection, as a matter of courtesy, you should soft pedal until the rest have re-joined.
Use Caution on Descents – Watch for signage indicating dangerous descents and be ready to slowly apply the brakes if necessary. When descending and turning, make sure your inside leg is at the “12 o’clock” position, not “6 o’clock”.
Follow Course Signage – The signage we place on all courses is there for your safety, follow the directions of these signs. For example, a “CAUTION” sign means slow down and focus on your surroundings.
Say “Thank You” – The Ride could not exist without the support of the many Volunteers and Crew on-course. Please take the time as you ride by to thank them for dedicating their time to the event.
